Growing Old Aint for Sissies!

Thursday found me flat on my back on a gurney in the ER. This stomach, back, feeling really tired thing, became unbearable and I decided to give my friends in the Emergency Dept. a visit. Lot's of Morphine, Zofran, and Benadryl later, and a butt load of tests found me okay. Soooo I guess I need to quit complaining and suck it up!!! It's time to move on with my bad self. This growing old ain't for sissies! This picture of me is just terrible, but I just had to post it. Always something..... For all you Morticians...STOP! I'm not dead yet! I just look that way! After seeing this picture, I needed a confidence booster, so I made my way down to our local Walmart. I really felt dumpy and frumpy when I walked into that place and walked out a different human being. Actually, I strutted out of that place. I have nothing to complain about. End of story.

With only a week before Leona Divide 50, I am just a tad bit nervous. I am going to take it easy this week and see how I feel. I am anxious to run on a course that is new to me. Another 50 miler in preparation for BH. Exciting.

Congrats to my BFF Suzanna Bon for her 4th place finish at American River 50 today. She finished with an awesome time of 7:30.20!! Way to go, Suz!

A big shout out to my sponsor First Endurance who supplies me with all my ultimate endurance nutrition. I received a box today and it felt like Christmas. Thank you First Endurance!

Today was a big money day. College Tuition, Property taxes, a new Gas Grill and face moisturizer!! Whoo hoo! I hope your day was as exciting!

Sorry to hear about all your troubles Kelly. I know exactly what you are going through, my boat is in the same sea right now. However, I loved your Walmart tidbit and feel the same way about that place. Hope things start looking up and that you race well :)

Can't wait to see you next week! If I didn't know just how strong and tough you are, I would ALMOST believe that pic :)

You suck it up better than many many others!!

Thanks, Mechelle. I hope we both start sailing our boats in smoother seas soon. I'm sorry that you didn't get into the NY Marathon. Race lotteries are a real pain. Good luck in finding a race that can get you motivated and excited to train for. Have a good weekend, Mechelle!

I can't wait to see you too, Meredith. I see that Olga will be running too. The three old Montrail runners. It will be fun!

Sorry to hear that the pain has gotten so bad. That's really odd too that they can't figure it out. One of my favorite shows is "Mystery Diagnosis" and people are often getting checked out as OK by the docs or told it is all in their heads, and then eventually it gets figured out and treated. I guess the best you can do is pay attention and get help if you need it again. Rest is probably a really good idea too.

Good luck with Leona Divide, though I doubt you will need it. I'm sure you'll do great!

Kell, geez, whats up with that? Stop getting doctors job already! Girl, you ARE tough, and nothing will take you. But DO take care of things, don't just suck it up, figure it out and make sure they are at bay. Growing old ain't fun, ain't it the truth!

You are totally not OLD! You're my hero. Hang in there, stay strong, and keep up the comic relief. I love your blog.

I love your story about Walmart. As I remember it, when you went into the Walmart in Texas, you were mistaken for "June" from the Dancin' club. We couldn't stop calling you June all weekend.
Take good care of yourself. At least you got some morphine! Leona Divide is a really fun race. You will kick butt!

Hi Deanna, thanks for the comment. I hope your knee is doing better. Isn't it the pits to be injured? Hang in there.

Hey Jen, yeah, I still think about that Texas Walmart and the comment that guy made. Ole June from the Dancin Club. What a crack-up. My kids and I called that jacket I was wearing, my stripper jacket. Too funny. Are you going to Rockledge in Nov.?

Hey Sue, You must be getting butterflies thinking about France. I will be thinking about you and sending you positive thoughts. You don't post on your blog frequently enough. I am constantly checking and disappointed when you haven't updated. Between running and life, blog more!! I love your blog.
