Missing Running

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

I miss running. Waves of sadness come and go as I sit here waiting to feel better. (I've never been good at waiting). Keep healthy, my friends, it is a drag to not feel 100%.

Ahhh...hey Kelly-- I'm Shawn's pal from Irvine. I've been enjoying reading your blog since Shawn sent it to me around the time of the Western States 2007 and my heart just dropped when I read (and heard) about the rough time you've had in this last race.

I truly understand where you mind is right now...(different adventure sport, climbing), but same mind space..not being able to do it because of something physical.

Crazy enough, I found being kept from it will actually help. (Although I KNOW it doesn't even feel that way one iota right now) Not just in the physical sense for healing your body...but you know that mental stuff we deal with while out on the trail (or my case, rock shelf)...the push past the painful moments...when your body is wanting to stop, but your mind is saying, "this is really hard...not yet..don't stop....keep going"....It's the 'make it around the next curve' stuff...those mental games we play with ourselves to get to that next and finally last step of the run? Sometimes the only way we get to the end of it is through a pure and raw desire. THAT'S where you will have you advantage now. Those mental moments on your future runs will be so much more joyous and easier to overcome..because now you will have that incredibly strengthened desire.

On a side note..I was looking at your photos and squinting to look at your feet, thinking "What are those?" Then when I zoomed in..."Those are little pink GATORS!" How cute are those! Way cool...I've never seen gators like that--up to the ankle..that's so great! (And pink...perfect.) :0)

Doodlestreet, thanks for the encouragement. I do believe that what you said is true. It is a good thing to be mentally tough. (sometimes it get's you into trouble) Ha! I will keep that in mind as I stumble around in my back yard. Thanks for reading my blog and for checking in. I really appreciate it.

Kelly, keep it positive. Each of us has challenges, some to do with sports and physical state, some with mental and emotional beeing. As someone told me, you fall 7 times, but get up 8. never doubt it. Love, Olga

Thanks, Olga. I appreciate that and I know you know just what I am going through. Both you and I need to keep it positive. No more falling, okay? Hope you are doing well. You are in my thoughts daily.
